We met in October 2019 at a trivia night in small town in central Texas. Zoë’s best friend from college happened to invite Ben out to trivia that evening, and Zoë and Ben instantly hit it off. We grew closer in our friendship over the Fall months and in January of 2020 we went on our first date. From that January date to go rock climbing we have basically been inseparable. We have now been married for 3.5 years and love each other more each day.
Right after we started dating, the Covid-19 pandemic shut down the world. We both experienced interruptions to our jobs, social lives, and families. Although the world was forced into isolation, God knew that we were destined to be together and used that time to show us all the different kinds of challenges we can overcome together. We believe that these difficulties early on drew us closer to each other and to the Lord and helped us build a firm foundation for our relationship. We can do anything with the Lord.
Ben is currently working as a software developer and Zoë is a music teacher in several local school districts. We both enjoy playing music together in our free time and spending time with our wonderful church family. We also LOVE to travel all over the place! We are both very active and enjoy hiking, biking, rock climbing, dancing, gardening, disc golf, you name it! Our relationship is full of the joy of the Lord, and we can't wait to share that joy with a child someday.
Ben loves being out in nature. He is an avid gardener (he grows amazing watermelons!) and enjoys working in the yard with Zoë.
Ben enjoys working out, especially weightlifting, boxing, rock climbing, and disc golf with his friends. In his free time he also practices his French. He is so excited to teach our future children how to speak French, like his dad taught him. He will cherish the opportunity to be a father and love our children so, so much.
Ben’s favorite verse:
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”
Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Ben loves to spend time with his family who live all over the United States and Australia. He comes from a family of travelers and has been to Canada, Australia, and Hawaii (as well as multiple states) on trips with them. He is very close with all his sisters and his parents, but he has extra love for his niece and two nephews. He enjoys playing games with them, especially chess with his father. They all enjoy going on hikes together and out to the beach. It's a great way for everybody young and old to spend time with each other. He wants to shower his own children with love; his family is so excited to be grandparents, nieces, uncles, and cousins.
Ben has tons of interests and hobbies. He always has a new project going on, indoors or outdoors! He loves to do lots of physical activities like hiking, biking, rock climbing, disc golf, gardening, yard work, and much more. Gardening is a passion he shares with Zoë. They both love to grow food and decorative plants in their backyard garden and on their acreage in Central Texas. Ben has become an avid naturalist and likes to identify plants and forage for food when he goes out. He has many other passions including music, linguistics, and technology.
Zoë enjoys being outside, working in the garden (she loves growing tomatoes), and growing food. She also loves cooking new recipes, baking, reading, playing guitar, writing songs, embroidery and cross-stich projects.
A good day for Zoë is one spent laughing and having fun with family and good friends. If coffee is involved, even better! She can’t wait to hold and love our future children and show them how very much they are loved.
Zoë’s favorite Bible verse:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
Zoë grew up with a large, fun family with cousins always running around. She is one of 12 first cousins. They remain close to this day, getting together several times a year and going on a family reunion camping trip in the Summer or Fall. It is important to us to raise our children with the same love for family that Zoë experienced growing up. We know that Zoë's family will be absolutely crazy about our future child!
We love to hike. This is us at the top of the Manitou Incline in Colorado.
We live in a beautiful neighborhood in Central Texas where we tend to one of our greatest passions: our garden. We spend lots of time outside enjoying the sunlight and fresh air, growing food for our family to eat. It is our dream to one day grow most of the food we eat. We are kept company by our two indoor cats who always find a new way to make us smile every day. We own some acreage in Central Texas where we like to go spend time in nature when we get tired of the city life.
Our favorite place to be is together. Our lives are full of God, family, fun, and travel. We've done so much in our years together that it's hard to sum up in a few sentences, but the most important thing to us is following the path that God has laid out for us. We experience joy in our daily lives as well as on our adventures.
