Hi! We are Adam and Amelia. We appreciate you taking the time to get to know us and considering entrusting us to parent your child. We met each other through friends from church in early 2012 while Adam was living in St. Louis and Amelia was living in Seattle. We had a long distance courtship that led to marriage at the end of 2012. We both desired to have children with birth and adoptive children always being part of the discussions for growing our family. We began pursuing both adoption and biological children simultaneously while trusting God to provide children as he saw fit. We were blessed to have our daughter, Penelope, become a part of our family in 2023, which put a brief pause on the adoption process while we adjusted to caring for a little one. We are praying and trusting God to continue to grow our family through adoption. We desire to have multiple siblings for Penelope, and our hope is for them to join our family through adoption.
We seek to foster a home environment that encourages exploration and inquisitiveness. We like to go for walks as a family, play at the nearby park, visit with neighbors, and work in the garden. We enjoy being silly and laughing together. We all like to read, and there are lots of books in our house to encourage reading. We also cook together. Penelope loves to help make food with us, so we find ways for her to participate in an age-appropriate way, such as adding the seasonings to a dish or stirring something in a bowl.
We both like board games and look forward to playing them with our children. We have discovered that cooperative games are a good way to play together since it is everyone against the game. Amelia taught Adam how to knit, and it is a hobby we both enjoy. We knit things for family and friends to share our love of knitting with others. Amelia loves to garden and shares that passion with Penelope. We both enjoy cooking. Adam also enjoys baking, which is something he likes to share with family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors.
As you consider us, know that we value you and want you to have interactions with your child, if that is something you desire. You are important to your child, and we want them to know about you. We are thinking about you and praying for you. We hope to meet you and your child soon.
From Amelia: Adam is an amazing man. He pursues Jesus as his first love and most important relationship. He is a loving, devoted and present husband and father. Adam works hard to provide, care for and lead our family. He is strong, savvy, creative, silly and kind. Adam loves having a family and eagerly hopes to grow it as the Lord leads. Adam is incredibly smart and a natural teacher. He will be a great teacher for all the children in our family. He will teach them everything from making doughnuts and balancing a checkbook to algebra and how to check the air pressure in car tires. Adam loves laughter, Dad jokes and playing games. He is a wonderful father to Penelope and will be to any other kids we are blessed to raise.
My family lives in the midwest, with most of them living in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area of Minnesota. We travel to see them once or twice a year, and they typically come visit us once a year.
My mom goes by Grandma Cookie, and she visits multiple times a year to ensure she has relationship with her granddaughter, and she plans to continue these visits as our family grows. Grandma Cookie is married to Grandpa Clete.
I am close with my sister, Carrie, and brother, Nate, and we text daily and chat frequently. Carrie is married to TJ, and they have a daughter, Margot. Nate is married to Ann, and they also have a daughter, Lucy. It is great to see the cousins interacting with each other.
My father, Doug, lives in Missouri with his wife, Robin. They are planning to retire in the next couple of years and look forward to the additional time that will provide for them to travel to see their grandchildren.
The whole family is looking forward to our family growing and having more nieces and nephews for their children to play with or for them to love on as grandchildren.
Adam studied criminology and sociology in college, earning bacherlor's degrees in both fields. He also attended seminary and earned his master's of divinity.
He is a financial planner helping people make plans for the family's goals.
I enjoy walks with the family, reading, cooking, baking, and woodworking. I want to encourage our children to develop their own interests and hobbies while also inviting them to learn about the things that interest me.
From Adam: Amelia is a kind, loving, smart, creative person. She loves children and seeing them grow and develop as little people. She is a great wife and mother, and I look forward to seeing her interacting with our other children. She has a talent for design and creativity, and I expect that she will instill some of that knowledge in our children.
Most of my extended family lives in the Pacific Northwest. We get together several times a years and we have a close relationship with them all.
My mother, Alison, splits her time between the Seattle area and France. When she is stateside she spends regular time with us and dotes on Penelope. She is looking forward to more grandchildren. She currently has 5 grandkids who call her Bisous.
My father, Eric, and stepmother, Po, live in the Pacific Northwest where I grew up. We have regular visits at their house and ours. They both love being grandparents to their 4 grandkids. Thye are both advocates of adoption, as two of their kids (my bothers are adopted).
All together I have a sister and 4 brothers. Some are married, some are not. Some have kids and some do not. We are a diverse group who values family and building strong ties together.
The whole family is looking forward to our family growing and having more nieces and nephews for their children to play with or for them to love on as grandchildren.
Everyone having fun at the playground when Uncle Robin visits.
Amelia's Dad and Stepmother live a few hours away and visit often.
Swinging at the park with Grandma and Grandpa.
Playing with Bisous (Amelia's Mom).
Amelia's Mom lives several hours away and visits often. Uncle Robin lives out of state and visits annually.
Amelia attended Bennington College and focused on design.
After college she returned to the Pacific Northwest and helped a local business grow and develop into a popular tourist attraction and favorite purveyor of household products and gifts.
Amelia currently works from home (Penelope likes helping!) part-time in marketing for friends she made while working for the business mentioned above. She spends most her day playing with and caring for Penelope.
Amelia is a creative person, and she enjoys sewing, knitting, cooking, and gardening. Cooking and gardening are the most child-friendly hobbies at this stage in our life; Amelia has been sharing these interests with Penelope and looks forward to sharing them with our other children. We desire to foster creativity in our children whether that is with similar interests or in their own personal pursuits.

Our home is a cozy place with a well cared-for garden that is the result of Amelia's hard work and vision. It provides a nice place to relax and enjoy the flowers and plants growing in the summer. We also have good outdoor exploration areas in our backyard, and we often have a little pool set-up outside for water play and to stay cool when it gets hot in the summer.
The interior of our home is set-up for fun, easy play and exploration for children. We have multiple stools to assist with access to sinks and for helping in the kitchen. We have a dedicated play area in the living room, but playing does spill over to other areas of the house. We often have forts or cozy reading nooks set-up during the day.
Our world is contained mostly to our neighborhood where we have a park for playing on the swings and slides and several good restaurants. Penelope is fairly willing to try new foods, and she has discovered that she likes french fries. We have a membership to the local zoo, and we like to go there with Penelope and her grandparents. We also do travel to see family and they travel to see us. We plan to continue to prioritize relationships and visits with family. We also have a desire to camp with our children and foster an appreciation for the outdoors.
